Job Summary

  • Calls commercial insurance companies, faxes documents, scans documents, answers phone calls, and responds to additional tasks assigned by management. This job is designed to perform the clerical tasks in the dispatch office.

Job Accountabilities

  • Calls commercial insurance companies to verify eligibility and coverage for ambulance transportation for patients, as well as the requirement of prior-authorization.
  • Uses a fax/copier machine to send information and make copies.
  • Answers phone calls with "Thank you for choosing North State Medical Transport, this is [name]. How may I help you?"
  • Directs customer and employee questions to the appropriate member of management.
  • Reports to communications supervisor.
  • Uses basic keyboard and mouse skills.
  • Possesses logical reasoning skills.
  • Scans patient paperwork and attaches to correct chart in the EMSCharts system.
  • Verifies correct scanning and attachment of patient paperwork in the EMSCharts system.

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum Field-of-Expertise: Basic computer skills.
  • Preferred Field-of-Expertise: Microsoft Office
